Psalm 34:18 (ESV)
“The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Use it: Near is the promise. He moves toward the brokenhearted, not away.
Psalm 42:11 (ESV)
“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”
Use it: The psalmist preaches to his own soul. “I shall again” is a promise about your future voice.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Use it: Hope has a source outside you. Ask the God of hope to fill, not yourself to manufacture.
Psalm 130:5 (ESV)
“I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope.”
Use it: Waiting is not wasted. Put your hope in the word, then wait with it.
Micah 7:8 (ESV)
“Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.”
Use it: Sitting in darkness is admitted — and answered: the LORD will be a light to me.

Use it: Barely burning is not extinguished in his hands. He handles the bruised gently.

Use it: Restoring is his work, not yours. Let the Shepherd do shepherd things.
1 Kings 19:4-5 (ESV)
“But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die... And he lay down and slept under a broom tree. And behold, an angel touched him.”
Use it: Elijah was a prophet at the end of himself — and God's first answer was sleep and food, not rebuke.
